Our Heroes' Back Story
This mission took place at Lake Claremont - Elliott rd,Claremont,WA 6010,Australia
Sunday, July 3rd turned on the sunshine allowing our superheroes to leave their secret lairs, board two bat-mo-buses and head to Lake Claremont.
With a traditional acknowledgement, a team photo, a baby turtle and briefing complete, our superheroes split into cells and with a lot of help from the master planters at Friends of Lake Claremont tackled the lake with pitchforks, spades, trowels and hands. While the going was tough, a clear difference in the landscape began to emerge as trees and shrubs were caressed and nursed into their beds like 10,000 of our own leafy children. Over 3 hours our heroes worked to transform a section of an old golf course at Lake Claremont into a newly re-vegetated area benefiting the environment and community. Who said superheros don’t have a soft touch ?
With planting over our superheroes took a pleasant constitutional around the lake to refuel their muscles with 100% locally sourced, vegetarian healthy goodness from Source Foods in Highgate. Re-energised our heroes re-boarded the buses and headed to Fremantle for a spontaneous sports carnival to promote Act, Belong, Commits’ endorsement of positive mental health and get the Perthians smiling and moving in winter time.
Shocked onlookers and innocent bystanders looked on as a placid town square was turned into an instant sports carnival as your heroes shouted and cheered their way through a few minutes of madness. With super active activities like mega-tunnel ball, tug-o-warfare and bouncy-beach-ball volleyball our heroes worked up a sweat in the name of positive mental health.
With the day over our heroes headed home for a well-earned rest. The actions of our heroes on July 3rd mean that an old golf course will now be a home for indigenous flora and fauna for generations to come and Perth has been shown how easy it is to get active while having fun, an important part of staying mentally healthy!
